Blog Post #52

I think I would ask the Wardon to make me pretty if I was Tally.  She is doing it to see if the cure really works so she is gonna help many thousands of people by turning pretty.

Blog Post #51

I do think that Tally will regret telling David because now it will be different between them, but she was going to have to tell him anyway so its better sooner than later. I think that David will change his mind about her, but then change it back. I think it will start with David being so frustrated with Tally but then he will realize that she did change her mind because she went rescued the Smokies and  try to build a new Smoke.

Blog Post #50

No, Maddy should not have forced Shay to take the "cure."  Then she would be just like Dr. Cable, forcing people to do things without their consent.

Blog Post #49

If I were Shay, I wouldn't take the cure. It has never been tested before that day, there is a 1% chance that it could kill her, and there isn't a certainty that it will work. So, no, I wouldn't take the cure.

Blog Post #48

"Tally thought of the lesions on Shay's brain, the tiny cancers or wounds or whatever they are that she didn't even know she had. They were in there somewhere changing her friend's thoughts, warping her feelings, gnawing at the roots of who she was."

It means that one of her best friends has some sort of brain disease and she doesn't know about and Tally can't do anything about it.  So Tally just has to sit there and watch her friend get stupider and stupider.

Isolation Room One:

Blog Post #44

Tally has grown up and completely changed her mind about the operation, and Maddy and Azes discovery of the lichens and them telling her about them affected her decision too.

Blog Post #43

I think the plan won't work, I say a gust of wind will blow them off from over-top of the building. I think just the fact of getting back at Special Circumstances for making people dumb is driving Tally. Tally is definitely crazy!

Hurricane Ike began as a tropical wave off of the coast of Africa around August 29th. A few days later, by September 1 it had developed into the 9th tropical depression of the hurricane season and was classified tropical storm Ike later in the day. Ike underwent rapid deepening on September 3rd into the morning of the 4th. It had achieved a category 4 strength on the Saffir-Simpson scale at 140 mph. Shortly after this, northerly wind shear started to take its toll and weaken it north of the Leeward Islands.

Hurricane Ike underwent another restrengthening phase as it moved west southwest into the Turks and Caicos and southern Bahamas. Grand Turk was in the northern eye wall and Great Inagua, Bahamas received a direct hit. Extensive damage occurred throughout these locations, with preliminary estimates showing 80% of the houses on Grand Turk receiving some damage. Ike continued toward Cuba making landfall on the northeast coast of Cuba. It crossed Cuba and turned more west northwest, barely off of its southern coast. After this, Ike made a second landfall in the western part of the country near where Hurricane Gustav made landfall not long before.

Hurricane Ike began to strengthen immediately after moving into the southern Gulf of Mexico. The Keys received some flooding, had squally weather, and reported an isolated tornado. In a similar fashion to Hurricane Gustav, Hurricane Ike had a very low barometric pressure in the central Gulf of Mexico, but did not strengthen significantly. Dry air on the western side of the hurricane kept it from strengthening until just before landfall.

High storm tides flooded the upper Texas and southwest Louisiana coast twenty four hours ahead of landfall. Storm tides of 10-15 were common in these areas. Hurricane Ike made landfall on September 13 at 2:10 am cdt at Galveston, TX. Even though Ike was classified as a category two hurricane with winds of 110 mph, very few gusts over 100 mph were recorded on land. Winds a few hundred feet above the ground were much higher though and caused damage to many windows to the sky scrapers in Houston. Rainfall totals of ten inches were reported in Houston. Heavy rain continued into the mid part of the U.S. as Ike merged with a cold front. Power was lost to approximately four and a half million people at the height of Hurricane Ike.

In summary, Ike was a huge hurricane. Its tropical storm force wind field extended exceeded that of Katrina. In the central Gulf of Mexico, winds of tropical storm force or greater extended out 275 miles from the center. Ike's effects not only were felt on the coast, but extended well inland. Wind damage and/or flooding rains followed the path of Ike into the southern Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and into New England. Rainfall totals of ten inches or more were recorded in the southern Great Lakes. Power Outages were also common from wind damage well northward into the Ohio Valley. Damage estimates are placed at $18 billion making hurricane Ike the 4th costliest hurricane to hit the U.S. An additional $4.4 billion in damage occured in Ike's post tropical stage as it moved northeast through the Ohio Valley causing widespread wind damage.

Tally thinks that she won a victory over Dr. Cable for saving the books, but if she hadn't gone  to the Smoke in the first place the books or anything else what have needed to be saved. The entire Smokey world was lost because of what Tally did.

Blog Post #39

I say David is right about Tally making an amazing escape. And Tally shouldn't feel guilty, she didn't mean  to betray the Smoke, she was trying to destroy the pendant but ACCIDENTLY set it off.

Blog Post #38

David is the voice in the dark I think, so he is a friend. I think Tally and david will find a make a new Smoke, and find the captured Smokies and David's parents.

Self preservation to me is like looking out for yourself. I would want a good reputation rather then a bad one, but it's not the most important.   I guess I have lied for self preservation in the past, so I probably will do so in the future. So yes, but I'm not proud of it.

I think that Tally might try to save, or make a new Smoke, and try to get everyone to forgive her. TALLY IS ON THE SMOKIES SIDE NOW!!

Blog Post #35

Yes, I think this is will be the most exciting, thrilling part of the book. All the Smokies  just got captured and it's probably the end of the Smoke forever.

When you become pretty, your self-confidence goes up, so you are more out there, and sometimes more snobby.

If I were to turn pretty, I would want to be more understanding. I would want to have blue eyes, and curly hair, and be smarter.

Yes, Shay does have a reason to be jealous of Tally.   David seems to be like Shay's "boyfriend," and he is giving Tally gifts.  Why didn't he give Shay the gifts?  So apparently it seems like David is starting to like Tally.

This sounds kind of kiddish, but in first grade I remember for my birthday my mom got me a heart necklace.  It was really pretty and it had my name on it.   And one of my friends wouldn't talk to me for like 3 days when I wore it to school. So I guess she was jealous of it, but I lost it like 3 weeks later and we became friends again.

Blog Post #29

Tally wasn't close to the people in the Smoke when she first arrived. Now, she has came to know them and  it will be harder to betray them.

Blog Post #28

"They reversed the operation."

David's parents didn't want everyone to be the same in a way. They liked the diversity, I think.  They themselves didn't want to be like other people.

And I think they ran away because they didn't want to raise their child in the environment of your ugly, but one day you will be pretty.

The beauty in this picture is how it is all natural, and just beautiful.  But the ugly thing is that in at least 20 years it will all be paved over, and in the middle of a city.

Shay's definition of a model is scary accurate. "... her ribs thrusting out from her sides, her legs so thin that Tally wondered how they didn't snap under her weight. Her elbows and pelvic bones looked sharp as needles." Women that were too skinny. The one thing Tally and Shay have right about our time is the eating disorders. Anorexia and bulimia are a big threat for women today.

I think the Smoke looks an old pioneer city with no electricity and dirt floors. I chose this picture because the dirt roads made me think about an old city. and I think that the Smoke should be an old city. It also looks like doesn't have any electricity because the lights are all off or there is really no electricity. And there are wood buildings like the Smoke.

Yes, I have made myself do something this I didn't want to do but I knew I had to. I t actually was last Thursday, at the track meet. Coach Roberts had me running the 200 open, and I really didn't want to. The 200 open is just a full out sprint for half of a lap. Anyone that has seen me run would know that I am definitely not the fastest person ever. I really didn't want to run that race because I knew I would come in last. Which I did, I came in last just like I knew I would. But I ran my race for my team because I knew no matter what place I came in I would earn my team points. So I tool one for the team and ran the 200 open.

In this chapter there was 2 fights. The first fight was between Shay and Tally but it was all a prank for the new uglies. The fight ended as one of the girls pushed the other over the railing, and they soon met up laughing hysterically. If the reality behind something is to sad or bad to hear, I would just want to be fooled about it. So, I guess it just depends on the thing I am being fooled about.

Whitewater rafting continues to grow in popularity. Like so many outdoor activities, people tend to forget that whitewater rafting necessarily entails an element of risk due to the elements of nature. In fact, some might point out that because of the inherent thrill seeking element of whitewater rafting, the sport includes a greater-than-average risk factor.
Whitewater rafting outfitters all over the world have their own unique risks in the trips that they provide. These can range from the easily treatable (someone catches sick on a trip) to the incredibly and exotically dangerous (a rogue hippo attacking rafters on the Zambezi in Zimbabwe). There are several dangers that are involved in all whitewater expeditions, however, no matter how short or how long, or where you are in the world. Here are some tips when it comes to making sure that your expedition is as successful and safe as possible.
Prepare Beforehand:If you have never been on whitewater rafting trip before, don't try to shoot the moon on your first trip out. Having a rafter who is unfamiliar with the water is a guide's worst nightmare, so make sure that if you are going on an advanced run that you are secure in your swimming ability. You should also be honest with yourself and the outfitter you are going with when it comes to your physical ability; not all people can expect to be able to run Class V rapids all day, due to lower physical health.
Listen to Your Guide!Guides that work for whitewater rafting outfitters are experienced and educated outdoors enthusiasts who know exactly what they are doing and what to expect on the rivers they run. Despite this fact, many people still presume that they know better than their guide what to do out on the river. Don't make this mistake. Consider that most guides have specialty training that the average person, even the average outdoors enthusiast, will not have the chance to obtain. Guides who run the Colorado River for River Runners in the Colorado, for example, are required to take Swiftwater Rescue training when they take rafters down Class IV or higher sections of rapids.
Betty, of W.E.T. River Trips in California, mentions that guides are also able to help rafters avoid stress injury by offering paddling techniques. "Men and women guides often have different styles of paddling", so be sure to use the one that is appropriate to your strengths!
Select Age-Appropriate Trips:Most whitewater rafting trips are available to people of all ages, but both parents of young children and senior citizens should choose the type of rapids they tackle according to realistic criteria. Eileen Datka of River Runners, an outfitter based in Colorado, points out that their trips are limited to people four years old or forty pounds. Kids in this group are restricted to the Class III rapids, and most parents will probably agree that this is more than sufficient for a thrill.
Duke Bradford, of Arkansas Valley Adventures (also in Colorado) notes that his company offers several trips for children as young as two, as long as they are accompanied by their parents. Several outfitters agree with this perspective and offer float trips along easy Class I and II rapids that even young families can enjoy.
Outfitters also note that even older kids might not be suited to all runs. For example, both River Runners and W.E.T. River Trips in California state that during high water, the minimum age on Class IV rapids should be 16 years. Betty of W.E.T. takes the age limit one step further, encouraging those under the age of 18 to defer from going on trips that involve a lot of Class V water.
Safety comes first in any outdoor recreational activity, and whitewater adventures are certainly no exception. To make sure that you have the most enjoyable excursion possible, follow the steps above and contact the outfitter you are going to use before hand to see if they have any additional advice.

New Pretty Town advocates bungee jumping because if there is ever a fire, the pretties need a way to get off the roofs.

Bungee Jumping was originally an ancient ritual or right of passage for the "vine jumpers" of Pentecost Island in the Pacific Ocean Vanuatu group. Every year, the men of the island's tribe build large wooden towers, over 80 feet high. They then carefully select vines from the jungle which they then tie to their ankles before jumping off the top of the towers. Modern Bungee jumping began with a 4 man team from the Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club jumping off the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, England, on April 1, 1979 (April Fools Day) dressed in their customary top hat and tails. The four neatly dressed adventurers (as the rules of their club expected) were immediately arrested.

During the late 1980's A.J. Hackett opened up the 1st commercial jump site in New Zealand and to publicize his site, per-formed an astonishing bungee jump from the Eiffel Tower!

Bungee Jumping flourished in France and New Zealand during 1980s and was introduced to the United States by John and Peter Kockelman from California in late 1980s. In 1990s facilities opened up all over the United States with cranes, towers, and hot-air balloons being used as jumping platforms.

Masks are worn to protect or disguise the face. Most masks worn to disguise are in the form of an animal or another person. Protective masks serve a specific purpose. For example, a welder wears a steel mask with a special lens to shield their eyes from the intense light produced by welding. Disguise masks include ceremonial masks, theatrical masks, burial and death masks, and festival masks. http://42explore.com/mask.htm
